CREATIVITY & SIMPLICITY
Through creativity, innovation, curiosity, and a constant questioning of "What if?", I strive to create unique and original content through a variety of media including academic and creative writing, educational and training materials, music, video, and more. I AM an "Edutainer" who educates through entertainment. Anybody can make ideas more complex, so why not keep them simple?

Flat Water (My Thesis Paper Brought to Life)
Abstract:
Mental health issues for students in higher education have reached epidemic levels. Research has shown that stress, anxiety, and depression on college campuses have greatly risen and more students are dropping out of school before reaching their goal of earning a college degree. Even though educators working in post-secondary institutions strive to develop a variety of programs, student groups, and interventions to help students transition and flourish within a college community, strategies that go beyond the norm are often overlooked. This project examines the history of mental health in higher education and outlines strategies founded on the psychological, psychosocial, and physiological benefits of being actively engaged with music. A music-based student organization, GV Music on a Mission, is developed as a resource to help incoming students at Grand Valley State University successfully transition to the college atmosphere and stay connected with the campus and surrounding community throughout their college careers. The organization is founded on four major programs that allow students to engage with music in a variety of ways to help improve emotional intelligence and overall mental health.
